Settling in

So, here I am. In the Uk. In Berkhamsted. How do I feel? Like I'm visiting! Lol... It will take ages before this sinks in! I guess it's because I'm still working for a Swedish company, and because I'm so used to visiting Andy and working from home when I do. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining! I think it's quite a good thing to have a period where I can work from home and get used to things here, before throwing myself out in the job market.

So, what have I been up to? Andy and I spent the weekend doing nothing really. We went to some pubs and had dinner at an Indian restaurant on Sunday night, no big plans. It was nice not to plan too much for once. This week I've mostly been working. It's strange, but even though I only work half time, it keeps me busy! I've also started running again, three times a week canal side runs :)

Had a great week in England!

I came home from England yesterday, we had such a good week again!! For once we just stayed in Berko for the whole visit.

The weather was amazing on the Saturday when Dave and Ana came over so we even had drinks outside in a couple if pubs! We went to five different pubs in the afternoon and then had dinner at Zaza, definitely a new favorite restaurant!

Three weeks to go till the next visit!

A week in Berko

I haven't blogged much lately partly because I've been busy with uni work and partly because Andy and I have been having some problems. I guess every relationship goes through its ups and downs and you will have hard times. Also, the distance makes communicating more difficult. We're fine now though so enough about that!

I'm in Berkhamsted right now. It wasn't really planned but I had a week of home studies so it worked out well! And it's so nice to be back! I went for a run along the canal yesterday, it was 16 degrees and sunny, such an amazing run! I love the fact that it's already spring here!
Unfortunately I won't have time to go to London or anything this time because I really need to study. I will take the weekend off though. Dave and Ana are coming here on Saturday and they will be spending the night. We're doing a Berko pub crawl, really looking forward to it!

Weekend plans

Camilla's coming over to Berko today. Think we will just walk around and go to some shops and some pubs off course! Looking forward too it!!!

Tomorrow will be a crazy day of studying as I need to finish my essay by Monday 2 pm, it'll be the last thing I have to hand in before Xmas and I'm so happy about that!

Random stuff

Mikaela brought my laptop over so now I can write longer posts again!

The past weekend was great! It was so good seeing Mikaela and we had such a great time! We managed to do a lot while she was here; a night out in London, shopping and sightseeing in London, wandering around Berkhamsted, Sunday roast and visits to pubs in Berkhamsted. It was great! Won't see her until Christmas now though :(

This weekend was going to be a quiet one at home because Andy is doing a half marathon on Sunday. He now got the idea to go up north since he wants to go see this car he might want to buy. So we're going up to his parents for one night tonight and then tomorrow I get to wander around Manchester while he goes to check out the car. Looking forward to it!

Everything is great at uni! My week has been pretty stressful as I hadn't done any work over the weekend. I changed that terrible 'Early modern literature' class and took one called 'Language, society and power' instead. I had my first class yesterday and it was good! The teacher seems amazing!
My other two classes; 'Early american literature' and 'Gothic and fantastic literature' are really great too! I just love that most my studying consists of reading novels! I'm just loving this term already!!

I'm really having such an amazing time and am already starting to worry about going back home, time just goes too fast!

Berko pub crawl

Yesterday we visited six of the local pubs. Two of them were really nice, two were real dumps and the last two were ok.

Favourite pub: The Three Horseshoes

The second best one: The White Horse

The canal

I absolutely love running along the canal here! Well I love the canal, not so much the running. People are so nice in this town too! Most people smile and say hello when I run past. Yesterday I ran past this man that was doing something with his boat and he went "Good work. You're doing great!" I just love that! I think I could really get used to life in a smaller town.

Today I went for an 8 km walk along the canal toward Hemel Hempstead. I've never actually been that way before, it was really nice!

Berkhamsted castle

I went to Berkhamsted castle yesterday. Another absolutely beautiful place here!

The castle dates from around 1100 and has apparently been in ruins since 1500. There are just a few walls standing now, but still there's just something about the place. Guess it's just one of those magic places....

The outer walls are still standing

There's also a cottage from the 1800s on the site.

Today's plan: To explore Berkhamsted

I'm still having difficulties uploading photos, which is annoying since there's no point posting about certain things without photos!

So yesterday I explored the canal area all the way to Tring. Today I'm thinking I'll explore the town and maybe check out some of the shops.
The town we live in is called Berkhamsted and it seems absolutely amazing! It's such a nice little town and so far it seems there's everything a person could possibly need right here. Plus it's only 30 mins to London by train! Think I'm going to like it here :)

Exercise

I went for a jog/power walk along the canal today. It was beautiful! I really wanted to walk all the way to the next town to see what it's like so I did 15 km in total. Don't think I ran more than 4-5 but my legs are still killing me!
I don't think getting started with my running will be hard when I get to run along such beautiful scenery!
(Trying to post photos here but it's saying I don't have enough signal for that, which is annoying cause I do!)
